All that matters is the Curse touched us, and we were sent away, and a prophecy gave us hope to answer the World Riddle: What is the Fate of the Undead? Oscar gives us the question, and the answer is ultimately: what we will it to be.ĭark Souls II places us deep in the middle of history, and allegorically, life itself. Our origins are not touched on, we could be prince, king, warrior, priest, knight, beggar, scholar. Or one to push the order of the world into Dark and move a new civilisation into being.

For each game represents something in real human life, and its consequences for the individual.ĭark Souls I places us paradoxically into a youthful phase near the dawn of history (the Fire having been linked only once before us) but also into the end of history for one civilisation, to try to turn back the clock on a bleak, barren, dead world.
